Who couldn’t use some extra money? Exactly. We all could. But instead of getting a second job, make extra money on your own time. Yup, be your own boss and set your own schedule.
Plus, a few of these don’t even require you to leave home. Not only is it much more convenient (and comfortable), it’s also perfect for retirees, stay-at-home parents or people with disabilities.
The best part? You could earn up to $60 an hour.
1. Earn an Extra $600/Week Delivering Food
App-based side gigs are all the rage. And they literally let you turn on and off your availability to work. But sometimes we don’t want to drive people around. Or invite them to rent a room in our homes.
Instead, an app called Doordash will pay you to pick up and deliver food whenever you want. All you need to get started is your preferred mode of transportation and your smartphone.
You’ll deliver things like coffee from Starbucks or food from Chipotle, Chik-fil-A or Five Guys. You set your own hours and work as much or little as you want, meaning how much you make is up to you.
You’ll earn money for each delivery, plus tips. Jose Neri, from California, reports earning $500 to $600 a week working just lunches and dinners.

2. Have a Degree? Earn up to $20/Hour With This Online Teaching Gig
Did you know can get paid to tutor kids online? Without a teaching degree? And without leaving your house?
Right now, Education First, an international tutoring program, is looking for tutors who’ll teach English online to kids ages 5 to 10. You can work from home, pick your schedule and make up to $20 an hour. Not bad, right?
You’ll need a bachelor’s degree to qualify and, if you’re hired, a 40-hour TEFL certificate. (You can take these courses online; we recommend finding one through Groupon to score a deal!)
You’ll also get plenty of opportunities to earn more money. For example, you’ll earn a surge bonus if you teach classes between 6 and 8 a.m. on weekdays or between 9 and 10:30 p.m. on weekends. Plus, once you teach 200 classes, you’ll get a $100 bonus.

What if there were a way to make extra money and get your puppy fix at the same time?
Rover is a website that connects neighbors who need a dog sitter with people who love having an extra dog (or two) spend the night.
The average Rover sitter earns $450 a month, but we spoke with stay-at-home mom Bryn Wied, who quickly started earning upwards of $500.
“Within two months, I was turning away business,” says Wied, who dog sits in California. “Within three months, I raised my prices to what everyone else was charging.”
It’ll take a little effort upfront, though (to filter out all the Cruella de Vils). You’ll create a Rover profile where you’ll answer questions about your experience with puppers and set your availability and prices.
Dog owners will reach out to you, and before you know it, you’ll be snuggled up with all the neighborhood dogs — and making extra money.
5. Earn up to $22/Hour Picking up Milk For Your Neighbors
If you’re looking for an easy, flexible side gig, delivering groceries is one of the best options for making some quick extra cash.
We suggest using an app called Shipt, which pays you up to $22 an hour for going to the store to pick up and deliver someone else’s groceries.
We talked to one shopper, Destiny Frith, from Nashville, who said she earned close to $600 a week — while working completely on her own schedule.
Just sign up online (the application is pretty simple). Once you’re approved, pick which jobs you want to take, and Shipt will send you a prepaid card to buy the groceries and deliver them to customers.
These extra runs could even cover the cost of your own groceries this week.
6. Get Paid to Jump in on Courtroom Drama
Jury duty isn’t always fun, but what if you could do it from the comfort of home? And get paid? Becoming an online mock juror can be an interesting way to make some extra money.
Here’s how it works: Attorneys present cases to online juries before trial — to find that’s working and what isn’t and craft the best arguments.
You can sign up as an online juror through a site like eJury. When a new case is submitted, you’ll be notified. Jump in to review the case and answer questions. You can earn $5 to $10 per case, depending on its length.
